NIACC's Spotts Awarded ICCAC's Female Student Athlete of the Year Honor
Reggi Spotts has been named the 2025-26 ICCAC Female Student-Athlete of the Year, becoming the second NIACC Women's Basketball player to earn the award. An incredibly decorated player, Spotts will go down as one of the best to play at NIACC.
Spotts scored 600 points this past season and 1,043 in her two years, landing fourth on the all-time scoring list at NIACC. She was seventh in total scoring in the NJCAA and was fifth with 51.3 points per 40 minutes. She helped lead the Trojans to consecutive Region 11 Championships and a berth to the NJCAA National Tournament for the first time since 2020. The Trojans reached the NJCAA quarterfinals, securing one of the Trojans' best seasons at 28-4.
The success on the court was rewarded with multiple accolades, including ICCAC Division II Women's Basketball Player of the Year. Spotts was also named NJCAA First Team All-American and earned a spot on the all-tournament team at the National Tournament. In addition to her athletic success, Spotts is accomplished in the classroom. She holds an impressive GPA and has been recognized with First Team Academic All-Region honors and First Team NJCAA All-Academic honors.
The Nora Springs, Iowa, native was also incredibly engaged with the local community in Mason City. On campus, she served as a student ambassador for prospective students, served on the NIACC LEAD Academy, where she focused on positive change through student engagement, and was a resident assistant. Spotts also dedicated time to Grace Church, volunteering for multiple activities.
Her successes have earned her the opportunity to continue playing basketball, signing a national letter of intent to play at Iowa State University, just down the road from Mason City.
NIACC Head Women's Basketball Coach Brad Vaught said of Spotts, "Reggi is one of the best players to ever play at NIACC. What makes it even more special is she is an amazing person, too. Spotts clearly leaves a legacy at NIACC, making a positive difference that will be felt after she has moved on."
Iowa State Head Women's Basketball Coach Bill Fennelly said of Spotts, "Reggi is an outstanding person from a great family who really represents the Iowa State way. She has had success in everything she has done both on and off the court."
