Division II Men's Golf | National Tournament Recap
PLYMOUTH, Ind. – ICCAC golf was well-represented at the NJCAA Division II Men's Golf National Championship at Swan Lake Resort, as Kirkwood finished fourth and Northeast seventh out of 22 teams. Both teams delivered strong performances, highlighted by individual All-American honors and top-40 finishes across the board.
Kirkwood, ranked No. 5 nationally heading into the tournament, exceeded expectations by finishing fourth with a team score of +39 through four rounds. The Eagles were narrowly edged out of third place by just one stroke on the final day. All four of their top golfers placed within the top 40 among a 140-player field.
Kirkwood's Reid Hall led the charge with a spectacular tournament, finishing second overall at 3-under-par (285). After a rocky start in round one (+4), Hall steadily improved, posting +1 on day two, a 3-under 69 on day three, and a final-round 67 (-5)—the second-lowest round of the entire tournament and a final-round best. . His closing surge brought him just two strokes shy of the individual title.
Hall's teammate Tate Brunk also earned Second Team All-American honors, finishing tied for 15th. Brunk opened with a 69 (-3), slipped with rounds of +6 and +7, but rallied with a final-round +2 to secure his top-15 finish at +12 overall.
Quinn Tinkler (29th) and Nathan Offerman (37th) rounded out Kirkwood's scoring, turning in steady, consistent rounds to help secure the team's top-five placement.
Northeast secured seventh place in the team standings, highlighted by Tyler Baumchen, who surged 12 spots on the final day to finish tied for 15th and earn Second Team All-American recognition. Despite a frost delay on the fourth morning, Baumchen carded an even-par round to close at +12 for the tournament.
Luke Bonser placed 41st with a four-round score of 308 (+20), battling difficult weather over the final two rounds. Gunther Soltvedt finished 62nd (+26), showing solid consistency to contribute to the Hawks' overall finish.
Bryson Parker and Tommy Dredla tied for 84th at +30, rounding out Northeast's roster at the event.
Two ICCAC individuals also made their mark at Nationals.
Freddie Muggeridge (Southwestern) was tied for third after three rounds at +2, just eight strokes off the lead. Despite a tough final round in frosty conditions, he finished tied for 15th (+12) and earned Second Team All-American honors.
Kaeden Anderson (Hawkeye) finished tied for 34th at +18, placing him comfortably inside the top 25% of the field and validating his individual qualification.
