ICCAC FALL 2022 PREVIEW | DIVISION I MEN'S SOCCER
The ICCAC Division I Men's Soccer conference may be the most competitive standings in all of ICCAC sports. The five teams return for one final year of Division I competition, with Iowa Central, Iowa Lakes and Marshalltown moving to Division II next season.
The five teams will vie for one spot at the district tournament this season, as Region 4 will receive a bid to the qualifying bracket this year -- now with two teams participating.
Iowa Western highlights the league after winning the 2021 NJCAA National Championship. The Reivers reached the championship game in the spring and rallied in the fall to become NJCAA Champions for the first time since 2013. All roads will need to go through them to reach this year's national tournament.
Iowa Lakes was last year's district champion. The Lakers overcame the Reivers there to earn an automatic bid to the national tournament. Their second straight appearance, the Lakers have NJCAA Final Four and NJCAA Qualifier banners from the 2021 calendar year.
Marshalltown enters the season as the last team to win a Region XI title since Iowa Western. The Tigers went back to back in 2018 and 2019.
Giving the ICCAC three different regional champions in five year, Indian Hills made it to nationals as recently as 2017 -- the Warriors will be the other team to remain in Division I for the foreseeable future along with Iowa Western.
Iowa Central rounds out the league -- The Tritons hope for a competitive season in their last dance as a Division I.
