2022 Region XI Outdoor Track & Field Championships Preview | Multi
COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa - The Region XI Multi Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be held on May 1 and 2 at Iowa Western in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Both men will be competing in the decathlon and the women in thee seven-event heptathlon.
On the men's side of the competition Iowa Central has the top two decathlon athletes that will be competing in the event. Nicola Paletti currently holds the third highest decathlon score in the NJCAA with 6225 points. Paletti is a very well-rounded athlete, placing evenly in the top-3 in most events. Some of his top marks in the decathlon include a time of 15.93 in the 110-meter hurdles and a top distance of 6.84 meters in the long jump. Paletti's teammate, Aries Scott, has a top score on the season of 5481 which places him at 13 in top scores in the NJCAA. Scott earns a lot of points from the field events with his top mark in the long jump at 7.13 meters and in the high jump at 1.93 meters.
For the women there are also two competitors who find themselves in the top-15 in the NJCAA in the heptathlon. Coming in with the 10th highest score in the nation at 3338 is Carlie Hoppe from Hawkeye. Hoppe is consistently good in both running and field events taking first place in the WPU Statesmen Invite in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:43.40 as well as the shot put and javelin throw with distances of 9.02 meters and 31.02 meters. Coming in right behind Hoppe with the 11th best score in the nation is Brianna Osterson of Southwestern who has a top score this season of 3222. Osterson has been very good in the field events this season with two first place finishes at the WPU Statesmen Invite in the high jump with a height of 1.45 meters and the long jump at 4.29 meters.
