15 ICCAC Outdoor Track & Field Events Earn All-American Status
At the 2023 Outdoor Track and Field National Championships, Iowa Western finished in the Top 5 for both Men's and Women's. The ICCAC had 14 All-Americans earn the designation at this year's event, along with a relay team as well.
Miracle Ailes (W) headlined and was the NJCAA National Champion in both the Long Jump and High Jump on her path to earning First Team Field All-American. In the Long Jump, her best jump was 6.21 meters and in the High Jump she jumped 1.82 meters.
Another First Team Field All-American was Ailes' teammate, Jazmyn James (W). The Reiver thrower finished first in the Discus with a throw of 48.56 meters. James also placed second in the Shot Put at 15.15 meters, earning a Second Team designation.
Tyrice Taylor (M) of Indian Hills Men's Track & Field was the third and final first place finisher from the ICCAC at this year's Championships. Taylor placed first in the 800 Meter Run with a time of 1:46.94 and a National Champion.
The Indian Hills 4x400 Men's Meter Relay team was the only relay team from the ICCAC to become a selection in the All-American category. The members included Ke'Vontae Walls-Burdine, Woyn Chatman, Chris Johnson, and Khalid Hornsby. They ran a 3:03.96 which earned them Second Team Relay All-Americans.
Iowa Western's Tahj Hamm (M) was awarded Second Team All-American after a second-place finish in the 400 Meter with a time of 45.42. He placed 10th in the 200 Meter as well, with a time of 20.48.
Hamm's teammate, Jayden Brown (M) also earned Second Team honors. Brown finished in second place in the 400 Meter Hurdles, falling just 0.08 seconds behind first place.
Adeyah Brewster (W) of Iowa Central Women's Track & Field was Second Team Track All-American after her performance during the 100m Hurdles. She crossed the finish line at 13.46 seconds, short of first place by just 0.15 seconds.
Another Second Teamer was Aisha Ramone (W) from Southeastern. In the Steeplechase event, she ended with a time of 11:34.54 and a runner-up finish.
Second Team Track All-American Joel Nyatusah (M), finished second in the 100 Meter Hurdles. Nyatusah, of Iowa Central, finished with a time of 13.84 seconds.
In the Heptathlon, Antonia Sealy (W) of Iowa Western finished in second place. Her final point total was 5221 and received Second Team All-American status.
The final Second Team finalist was Roman Kuleshov (M) from Iowa Central. Kuleshov finished second in the Triple Jump with a jump of 15.57 meters. He also finished Top 5 in Long Jump with a measure of 7.67 meters.
The ICCAC had two Honorable Mention Track All-Americans and two Field All-Americans.
Rivaldo Marshall (M) of Indian Hills placed third in the 800 Meter Run, finishing two seconds short of the first-place runner, who was his teammate, Taylor. Last year's champion became a two-time All-American in the Outdoor event.
Rahyme Christian (M) of Iowa Western was third in the Men's 100 Meter Hurdles with a 14.09 time.
Shakera Williams (W) earned Honorable Mention Field All-American after she finished third in Shot Put. She threw a 14.56meters which was 0.93 behind the National Champion.
The final All-American from the ICCAC was Odayne Harris (M) from Iowa Western. Harris had a javelin throw of 61.69 meters and finished in third place in the men's event.
