2025 Region 11 Cross Country Championship Preview
FORT DODGE, Iowa — The Region 11 Cross Country Championships will be held Friday, Oct. 24, at Lakeside Municipal Golf Course in Fort Dodge. Iowa Central will serve as host. The men's race begins at 4 p.m., followed by the women's race at 4:45 p.m.
The women's Division I field is led by Iowa Western, ranked No. 2 in the NJCAA Division I Coaches' Poll (USTFCCCA). The Reivers are paced by standout freshman Juliana Sakat, who has finished first twice this fall and owns a personal best of 16:40 in the 5K. Sakat was named USTFCCCA Athlete of the Week and is a two-time ICCAC Athlete of the Week honoree. She's joined by eight other freshmen and sophomore Alyssa Kulesa, who placed 10th at last year's Region 11 meet.
Iowa Central, the defending Region 11 champion, features freshman Hafsa Oukadou, who has finished in the top five twice this season. Sophomore Abbi Hutchinson returns after finishing fourth a year ago. Indian Hills brings back top runner Tiffani Koonce, who took sixth in last year's race.
DMACC headlines the Division II field, ranked No. 4 nationally in the NJCAA Division II Coaches' Poll (USTFCCCA). The Bears recently claimed the team title at the Indian Hills Invitational, led by sophomore Ava Manning, a three-time ICCAC Athlete of the Week with one individual win this year. Returner Jaycie Vohs, who finished third in last year's meet, is another name to watch.
Southeastern returns seven sophomores, including standout Paetyn Wiegand, a five-time ICCAC Athlete of the Week who placed 10th last year. NIACC, ranked No. 25 nationally, will be led by sophomore Olivia Spurling, the fifth-place finisher from last year's championship.
Top-ranked Iowa Western enters as the clear favorite, anchored by star sophomore Geofrey Ronoh, who has 16 career wins and captured last year's individual and team titles. Ronoh's best time this season is 23:32.7. He's joined by Barnabas Ndiwa, another returning sophomore with eight career victories, forming a one-two punch few teams can match.
No. 5 Iowa Central will look to challenge the Reivers, led by Chakib Cherakoui Rhazouani and Saad Rifi Loutfi. Cherakoui Rhazouani won the Hawkeye Invite with a 17:57 in the men's 6K, while Loutfi finished third in that same race.
In Division II, DMACC enters as the team to beat. The Bears return sophomore Eli Page, who placed in the top 10 at last year's championship, along with teammate Zack Stoermer, another top-10 finisher. Page is coming off two recent top-10 performances, including a season-best 26:39.
Southeastern's Parker Quinlan is another name to watch. The sophomore recently ran a personal-best 26:02.1 in the 8K and has been named ICCAC Athlete of the Week four times in his career.
