2025 All-Region | Men's Cross Country
The 2025 Men's Cross Country and All-Conference Awards were determined last Friday at the Region 11 Championships in Fort Dodge. The top 21 performers across Division I and Division II earned All-Conference honors, with the top 15 in Division I and top 12 in Division II taking home All-Region recognition.
Iowa Western won the Division I team title for the third year in a row. The Reivers claimed the top two spots overall in Barnabas Ndiwa and Geofrey Ronoh for the second year in a row, only the two flipped places.
Ndiwa finished first overall for the Reivers with a time of 24:05.9. The two-time ICCAC Athlete of the Week award winner in 2025, and now 2025 Division I Athlete of the Year recipient, finished with a fairly wide gap of twenty seconds between him and Ronoh. The sophomore won the NJCAA Half Marathon last season and looks to improve upon his fourth place finish at the NJCAA Cross Country Championships from a season ago.
Iowa Central took the second-place spot as a team but claimed three of the five First Team All-Region spots. The top runners for the Tritons finished back-to-back-to-back in third, fourth, and fifth place, with Soufyane Laaziz taking third place, Chakib Cherkaoui Rhazouani taking fourth place, and Said Rifi Loutfi taking fifth.
Division II's Athlete of the Year award went to the 2025 Division II Champion, Eli Page of DMACC. The sophomore repeated as the champion, being last year's Athlete of the Year as well. Page finished with a time of 25:37.5, nearly thirty seconds faster than any of his competitors at the 2025 Championships.
Joining Page on the First Team All-Region team are his teammates Christian Choate and Sam Mora. Mora finished in second place and Choate finished in fourth to propel DMACC to a dominant win, taking the Region 11 title once again after winning last year as well.
Southeastern took the second-place spot and finished with one member of the First Team All-Conference squad in third place overall finisher, Parker Quinlan. Quinlan finished with a time of 26:06.7 just one second away from a second-place finish.
This year's Coach of the Year awards went to Iowa Western's Marc Bierbaum for Division I and DMACC's Michael Melchert in Division II.
Bierbaum led Iowa Western to their third-straight Region 11 Championship and has the Reivers primed to fight for a NJCAA Division I National Title with two of the top runners in the country leading the way.
Melchert, in his sixth-season as head coach, led the Bears to back-to-back Region 11 crowns.
