Iowa Western Dominates ICCAC Sports Shooting Championships
ACKELY, Iowa/WAUKEE, Iowa - Iowa Western delivered a commanding performance at the ICCAC Sports Shooting Championships over the weekend, sweeping five of the six team titles and showcasing depth across all clay‑target disciplines. The Reivers captured team crowns in Singles Trap, Doubles Trap, Skeet, Doubles Skeet, and Sporting Clays. Hawkeye broke the sweep in Super Sporting, edging Iowa Western by a single target, 136–135.
Individually, High Overall (HOA) honors on the men's side belonged to Michael Day of Iowa Western with a 613, powered by individual titles in Doubles Trap adn Doubles Skeet. Day's wins anchored two of the Reivers' five team championships and set the tone for a dominant all‑around effort. Close behind, teammate Leo Brand compiled a 610 on the strength of top‑five finishes in four events — fourth in Singles Trap, second in Doubles Trap, fifth in Doubles Skeet, and third in Super Sporting — to underscore Iowa Western's balance.
The Reivers' Karson Lea posted a 609 for third in HOA and authored two marquee moments: a perfect 200/200 to win Singles Trap and a 90/100 to take the Sporting Clays title, plus a 99/100 for second in Skeet.
Fellow Reiver Graham Jensen matched 609 for fourth overall behind a slate of clutch finishes that included fourth in Doubles Trap, second in Sporting Clays, and fourth in Super Sporting.
Rounding out the men's top five, Iowa Western's Gavin Kuck shot a 607, highlighted by third in singles trap at 198/200 and third in skeet at 98/100. Additional standout HOA performers included Iowa Western's Thomas Bourgoin (602), who fired a perfect 100/100 to win Men's Skeet and added fourth in Doubles Skeet and fifth in Sporting Clays.
Outside of Iowa Western, two other shooters finished in the top 10 of HOA including Central's Nick Brodsky (599), who was third in Doubles Skeet and fifth in Skeet for eighth place and Hawkeye's Mason Goche (595), who won Super Sporting and placed third in Doubles Trap.
On the women's side, Iowa Western's Payton Kruse delivered the day's most complete resume and claimed HOA with a 606. Kruse captured Singles Trap at 197/200, Sporting Clays at 85/100, and Super Sporting at 43/50 while also finishing second in Doubles Trap and Doubles Skeet and fourth in Skeet.
Teammate Abby Johnson took second in HOA at 590 behind a pair of individual titles — Doubles Trap (94/100) and Skeet (97/100) — and added runner‑up finishes in Singles Trap and Super Sporting. plus fourth in Sporting Clays.
Indian Hills' Holly Boeke placed third in HOA at 573 with the Doubles Skeet title at 94/100, a third in Skeet, third in Sporting Clays, and fourth in Super Sporting.
Hawkeye's Lydia Covert finished fourth in HOA at 572 after stacking top‑five results throughout the program: fifth in Singles Trap, second in Skeet, fifth in Doubles Trap, fifth in Sporting Clays, and third in Super Sporting.
Teammate Abbie Hill rounded out the top five at 547 with fourth in Doubles Trap, fifth in Skeet, and fifth in Doubles Skeet. Additional notable performances included Indian Hills' Megan Vos (546) and Indian Hills' Emma Adams (542).
High Over All:
High Over All Awards were given to teams and individuals who participated in all six disciplines; trap, doubles trap, skeet, doubles skeet, sporting clays and super sporting.
