Game of the Week: Iowa Central def. Northeast, 69-68

Iowa Central opened ICCAC play in dramatic fashion, edging Northeast 69–68 in Norfolk to give first-year head coach, Graham McFall, his first conference win as the leader of the Tritons.

In a back-and-forth game, Iowa Central found itself down 34–25 at halftime and trailing by as many as nine in the third quarter before its stars took over. Point guard, Shakani Murray controlled the tempo and sparked the comeback with 20 points, repeatedly breaking down the defense off the dribble, while 6-foot-2 post Trista Ohlmeier delivered a dominant 32-point (the most in an ICCAC matchup so far this year), 15-rebound performance. The Tritons flipped a 45–36 deficit into a 54–48 lead behind an 8–0 run to close the third quarter and a 10–0 burst to start the fourth, with Murray and Ohlmeier combining for 52 of Iowa Central's 69 points on the night.

Northeast briefly reclaimed the lead with a late flurry, but Iowa Central responded once more. Ohlmeier scored on four straight possessions to keep the Tritons in front, then, after an Annika Scott corner three pushed the lead to 68–65 in the final 30 seconds, came up with the game's biggest hustle play, securing an offensive rebound off a missed free throw and splitting a pair at the line to make it 69–67 with under 10 seconds left. Northeast had a chance to tie at the stripe with 0.2 seconds remaining but missed the second free throw, allowing McFall and the Tritons to escape Cox Activities Center with a gritty one-point road win to start their ICCAC campaign.

The top producers for the Blackhawks were Aaliyah Jones with 13 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and Vilique Fallis with 14 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists.

Iowa Central and Northeast will both be playing again on December 3rd, at 5:30 P.M., with the Tritons hosting Southeastern and the Blackhawks travelling to take on Iowa Lakes.
