Game of the Week: DMACC def. #9 NIACC, 68-38

DMACC finds itself in back-to-back Games of the Week after tacking on another huge win to extend its streak to eight straight, while also ending NIACC's 11-game winning streak and handing the Trojans their first loss of 2026. The Bears didn't just beat the No.-9-ranked Trojans, they controlled every phase of the game and cruised to a 68–38 win on Feb. 11 inside the DMACC gymnasium.

After dropping the first meeting 62–58 on Jan. 7 in Mason City, DMACC came out with purpose in the rematch, jumping in front early and never letting NIACC settle in or gain the lead. The Bears led 13–8 after the first quarter, then delivered the knockout punch with a dominant second period, outscoring NIACC 20–4 to take a 33–12 advantage into halftime. DMACC stayed aggressive after the break, stretching the margin to 45–20 after three, and closed with a strong fourth quarter to finish off the 30-point upset and put the NJCAA on notice.

Sophomore Chloe Costello kept her hot streak rolling after last week's 28-point outing, leading all scorers with 24 points on 11-of-16 shooting. Whitney Jensen followed with 14 points, going a perfect 6-for-6 at the free-throw line while adding six rebounds, four steals, and a block. Defensively, DMACC set the tone from start to finish. The Bears forced 24 turnovers, piled up 19 steals, and held NIACC to just 22.8% shooting overall and 2-of-25 from three. Jordan Valley, Jensen, and Mariam Omran spearheaded the pressure, combining for 13 steals, accounting for 13 of the Bears' 19 on the night. DMACC also controlled the paint, scoring 38 points in the paint compared to NIACC's 16.

NIACC did get 16 points from Zaria Falls and 11 rebounds from Ciara Seifert, who continues to have a historic rebounding season for NIACC, but the Trojans struggled to generate clean looks or sustained offense against DMACC's constant pressure and physicality.

With their momentum peaking and the postseason just around the corner, the Bears will hit the road on Wednesday, Feb. 18 at 5:30 p.m. to take on Northeast in Norfolk, Nebraska at the Cox Activities Center.

The Trojans will travel to Estherville on Wednesday, Feb. 18 at 5:30 p.m. to take on Iowa Lakes in their next ICCAC matchup.
