Game of the Week: Central def. (RV) Iowa Lakes, 90-83 (OT)

Central (Neb.) opened up its season against (RV) Iowa Lakes with a 84-74 loss, and was determined to not have the same outcome in its final regular season game against Iowa Lakes. Central showed up to Iowa Lakes' Sophomore Day, rallying to a 90-83 thriller behind a unbelievable 44-point performance from Lexi Fiscus.

Central started the game with a strong opening quarter, outscoring Iowa Lakes 16-15. Ficsus and Rebecca Stoddard both scored five points in the opening frame. Iowa Lakes saw Tahlea Tirrell lead them in the opening quarter with six points. The second quarter was more or less the same. This quarter saw more offensive prowess from both teams. Fiscus scored eight points while the Raiders shot 60%. The Lakers scored 20 points on 53.5% shooting and made two threes to take a one-point lead going into halftime. 

Iowa Lakes had its most impressive showing in the third quarter. They held Central to just 16 points while they exploded for 26. The Lakers shot 63.2% from the field and saw three different players with over five points. Central was still hanging around with nine points in the quarter from Fiscus. Fiscus made her money in the fourth quarter -- when the Raiders needed her most. She scored 13 points in the final frame, and helped hold the Lakers to 14 points. Fiscus tied the game with 1.9 seconds left before the Lakers had a chance to win at the buzzer with two free throws. The Lakers missed both shots and sent the game to overtime. Fiscus continued to dominate into overtime, and eventually the Raiders took the Sophomore Day game 90-83.

Fiscus ended the game with her best statline of the year -- 44 points, 13 rebounds and three steals. She shot 15-of-25 from the field and made 12-of-13 free throws. Delaney Reeg dished out seven assists and grabbed eight rebounds while putting up 15 points to help the Raiders. Jayla Merill helped the Raiders as well with 13 points. 

The Lakers saw Zoey Wooten put up 27 points, five rebounds and six steals to lead the charge. Tirell ended the game with 17 points as well. The Lakers shot just 46.7% from the charity striple compared to the Raiders' 80%. 

The Lakers will take on Northeast in the Region 11-B Semifinals this Saturday at 1 p.m.

The Raiders, despite the win, finished outside of the top 8 needed to qualify for postseason play.
