NIACC's DeLong, Iowa Central's Quintero Finish Top 20 at NJCAA National Tournament
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The ICCAC was represented well at the second edition of the NJCAA Division II Women's Golf National Championship at Ol' Colony Golf Course May 12-15. DMACC, NIACC and Iowa Central all traveled to Alabama to compete.
DMACC placed 10th in the team standings with a score of +256 after all four rounds, the highest of the three ICCAC teams in attendance. Megan Wilde and Hannah Kenkel both led the Bears at the tournament, tying for 34th place with scores of +56. Hailey Loonan followed behind her teammates in 47th, finishing the tournament with a total score of +67.
The Trojans finished directly behind DMACC in 11th place after posting a team score of +275.
Meghan DeLong was the top Trojan, earning her second consecutive All-American designation after placing 14th. DeLong scored +40 and improved her position from last year's tournament by two places.
Iowa Central took 15th at the National Championship, plagued by having only three available golfers on the final day. Okira Quintero had the team's top finish, and second-best within the conference tied for 19th with a score of +45, playing her best round on the final day at +9. Syeda Laiba Shah finished in the top half of golfers, in 34th place, scoring +56, and also played her best round on the final day with a +6.
Individually, Southeastern's Sophie Malott finished in 71st place of the 78 golfers that participated in each round.
