ICCAC Division II Women's Soccer Presents Postseason Awards
The ICCAC Division II Women's Soccer coaches selected the 2021 All-Region athletes for the fall season on Tuesday.
Runner up to Northeast in the Region XI Tournament, Hawkeye had three players put on the First team All-Region squad. Most notably, freshman forward Marita Leimbach, was ICCAC Division II Women's Soccer Player of the Year. She sits in the No. 4 spot in the ICCAC for goals (17). She is second in assists (17), good for fifth in the country. Leimbach has the clutch-gene as well for the RedTails, as she is tied for first in the NJCAA in game-winning goals with 8.
To complement Leimbach, Jayme Millard was 10th in the ICCAC in assists with six. Millard is also tied for seventh in the ICCAC for goals with nine.
Rounding out the players for Hawkeye was Riley Rosauer . On the season, she put up 12 goals and 10 assists, both of which are top six in the conference.
Northeast went back-to-back, taking both the Region XI regular season title and the Region XI Tournament championship. They had four players from their team earn First Team marks. Three of their four selections are the top three in goals scored in the ICCAC this season.
Naomi Pedroza leads the ICCAC in goals by a large margin. Pedroza has 27 goals on the season, which is nine more than Grumendi and good for sixth-most in the NJCAA. Pedroza also holds the title for most points in the ICCAC (64), fifth in the NJCAA. Through the District Championship, she has two or more goals in six of her last seven games, including four hat tricks.
Naomi's sister, Sara Pedroza, is tied with teammate Gurmendi for second place in goals with 18. Pedroza is fourth in the ICCAC for total points (46) and is tied for fifth in the conference for assists (10). Pedroza has been clutch for the Hawks as she is fourth in the NJCAA for game-winning goals (4).
Freshman forward Romeni Gurmendi filled the stat board as well for the high-scoring Northeast offense. Gurmendi is seventh in the NJCAA in points (54), fourth in assists (18), and 12th in goals (18). She is in the top two in each of those categories in the ICCAC.
Lincoln rounds out the Hawk's First Team selections. The midfielder has three goals and one assist this season.
As the Hawks head to their second-straight national tournament, Chad Miller was named 2021 ICCAC Division II Women's Soccer Coach of the Year. This year the Hawks finished as the No. 1 seed with a record of 9-1 in the conference. With a record of 17-5, they are the No. 11 seed at the Division II National Tournament in Wichita, Kan. later this month.
Both Scott and Southeastern had players added to the All-Region team, as each team added a forward and midfielder.
Scott's Madison Gordon is second on the team for total goals with five, but leads the team in total assists (5) and total points (15). Teammate Jenna McLaughlin is top three on the team for goals, assists, and total points.
Non Ishida of Southeastern is fifth in the ICCAC in goals (13) which also leads the Blackhawks. Ishida sits in the sixth spot in the ICCAC for total points (30).
Teammate Taylor Ackerman is second for the Blackhawks in goals (6) and tied for second in total points with 16.
The 13 All-Region members were rounded out by one selection each from NIACC Jette Busche and Dakota County, Alissa Merrick.
