Match of the Week: Northeast def. Southeastern, 3-1
Northeast defeated Southeastern 3-1 in a tight match, extending a streak in which the home team has not lost in this series since 2018 -- the last seven matches.
The Hawks of Northeast edged out the first set 26-24, but Southeastern responded with a 25-21 win in the second—the widest margin of the night. Northeast then took control, pulling out back-to-back set victories, needing extra points in each, 29-27 and 26-24, to secure the match and send the Blackhawks on a long trip home with a loss.
Grace Robidoux paced Northeast with 10 kills, three aces and 31 digs. Alli Brown added 11 kills, while Baylee Settje contributed 10. Together, the trio helped push the Hawks into extra points three times.
Northeast picked up their fourth win of the season, now sitting 4-10 overall but 3-2 in conference play. They will host Iowa Lakes on Sept. 24 at 6:30 p.m.
Southeastern dropped their first conference match of the season and sit at 4-1, with a 12-7 record overall. Next up for SCC in conference play is Hawkeye on Sept. 24 in Waterloo.
