ICCAC Announces 2025 Top Performers in Division II Volleyball
The ICCAC Division II Volleyball schools announced the All-Region and special awards for the 2025 season on Thursday.
Iowa Central was the top dog in the conference, finishing with a 12-0 conference record and 30-7 overall. It marks the Tritons' sixth regular-season championship in the past seven years.
The Tritons' undefeated conference season was orchestrated by ICCAC Division II Volleyball Player of the Year and First Team All-Region selection Tayla Sampson. She put on an offensive clinic all year — ranking first in kills (658) and kills per set (4.90). Sampson's 658 kills were ahead of second place by a staggering 221. She also ranked third in the conference in service aces (19), rounding out a dominant sophomore season. Nationally, Sampson led the country in kills as well.
Setter Anabel Seaman was a major factor in Sampson's success. Seaman earned First Team All-Region honors after finishing first in assists (438) and assists per set (10.95) in conference play. Her 1,310 total assists ranked second in the nation.
Finishing Iowa Central's "big three" is First Team All-Region outside hitter Shirley Monaghan. The 5-foot-9 standout complemented Sampson with a strong season of her own, finishing 26th in the country in kills (406) and adding 463 total points.
Kirkwood, the regular-season runner-up and Region 11-B champion, had three First Team All-Region selections, including ICCAC Division II Volleyball Freshman of the Year Carly Wazac. Wazac ranked 11th overall in kills, but her efficiency stood out — finishing fifth in the conference with a .335 hitting percentage.
Another First Team All-Region pick for the Eagles was last year's Player of the Year Kaci Johnson. Statistically Johnson wasn't atop individual leaderboards, but her all-around production was unmistakable. Johnson finished 16th overall in kills (276), fourth in hitting percentage (.303) and eighth overall in assists (650). Three times she had a triple-double this season in kills, assists and digs. This marks her second First Team All-Region honor at Kirkwood.
Rounding out the Eagles' trio is First Team All-Region middle blocker Madalyn Boyer, who was a wall at the net. She finished with 109 total blocks (fifth overall) and ranked third in blocks per set at 1.11.
DMACC landed two First Team All-Region selections with Lauren Sandvold and Ramsey Johnston. Sandvold was a lockdown libero, ranking fifth in the nation in digs (779) and 24th in digs per set (5.64). She also finished 40th nationally in service aces (65). Her 779 digs place her fifth in DMACC history for single-season records. Johnston had strong numbers on both sides of the ball, ranking 18th overall in assists (396) and 13th in total blocks (79).
Northeast's Rowan O'Keefe secured a First Team All-Region nod thanks to her imposing presence at the net. She led the conference in blocks (48) during league play and ranked second in blocks per set (1.17).
Rounding out the First Team All-Region selections is Southeastern's Aviana West, who delivered an impressive sophomore season, especially on offense. West finished eighth in the conference in kills (109) and kills per set (2.95), while also contributing 127 digs (22nd in the conference) on the defensive end.
The 2025 Division II Volleyball Coach of the Year award went to Sara Horn. The annual award goes to the coach of the regular season champion -- and, as mentioned, the Iowa Central Tritons went a perfect 12-0 this season. The season included a 3-2 win over then No. 1 ranked Kirkwood -- and a sixth-straight national tournament bid.
