Iowa Central Wins Second Straight Region 11 Women's Wrestling Championship
MASON CITY, Iowa — Iowa Central claimed its second consecutive ICCAC Women's Wrestling Region 11 Championship on Saturday, totaling 198 points to comfortably outpace the field in the rec center at North Iowa Area Community College.
The Tritons, who have now won both championships since the event began last season, crowned six individual champions and placed 14 wrestlers inside the top three to secure the team title. Iowa Central finished well ahead of runner-up Iowa Western (124), followed by Hawkeye (93), NIACC (54), Southeastern (43), Indian Hills (39.5), and Iowa Lakes (33).
Iowa Central's individual champions were Erica Pastoriza (103), Damiyah Smith (110), Jeream Estabilio (124), Annabelle Petsinger (131), Destiny Krum (138), and Valerie Hamilton (160). The Tritons also recorded runner-up finishes from Molly Sek (110), Asia Jahangir (124), Ashlee Farrier (131), Delise Villa (145), and Alexandra Grow (160), along with third-place finishes from Amaya Fairley Vasquez (180), Lucy Kohnen (180), and Harmoni Callins (207) to round out a dominant team showing.
Iowa Western secured three individual titles on the day. Hailey Medina won the 117-pound championship by default, Ayana Fletcher captured the 145-pound crown, and Faith Tarrant closed the tournament with a title at 235 pounds. The Reivers added runner-up finishes from Rosalia Rubio (117) and Audre Herron (207), along with a third-place effort from Chevy Coleman (110). In total, the Reivers had six top three finishers.
Hawkeye saw Alyson Krum earn the 207-pound championship, while Lemuna Gurisho (103), Cieanna Ficken (131), and Mackenzie Arends (235) all reached the podium.
Southeastern's Kiernan Farmer captured the 180-pound title, and teammate Evelyn Phillips placed second at 138 to help the Blackhawks to a fourth-place team finish.
Indian Hills was paced by third-place performances from Jamiyah Blount-Taylor (103), Elisabeth Norton (117), and Afi Koumasse (160).
NIACC earned a pair of podium finishes with Olivia Brown taking third at 138 and Kallie Gibbons placing third at 145.
Iowa Lakes rounded out the medalists with Brooklyn Robinson finishing third at 235.
