Iowa Western, Sakat Finish as Runner Up at 2025 NJCAA National Cross Country Meet
FORT DODGE, Iowa – The ICCAC saw another strong showing at the NJCAA Women's Cross Country National Championships, with teams from both divisions finishing among the nation's best.
In Division I, Iowa Western finished up their 2025 season as the NJCAA runner-up national finish, placing second behind Odessa (Texas) with 127 team points. The Reivers were led by Juliana Sakat, who finished as the inidividual national runner-up and earned First Team All-American honors with a time of 17:52.3.
Elizabeth Ewusie joined her on the All-American list with a 12th-place finish in 18:55.3, while teammates Hafssa Boutrich (31st), Wijdane Inzaline (39th), Norah Sjerven (43rd) and Mya Curtis (49th) rounded out Iowa Western's deep top 50 presence.
Iowa Central placed 16th overall, led by Hafsa Oukadou, who placed 10th nationally in 18:48.5 to earn All-American recognition. Abbigail Hutchinson followed in 24th (19:27.8) to help the Tritons secure another top-20 team finish.
Indian Hills finished 17th as a team, paced by Tiffani Koonce (36th, 19:54.0) and Rebecca Duran (50th, 20:14.5).
In Division II, DMACC led the ICCAC contingent, finishing eighth overall out of 44 teams with 303 points. Ava Manning performed well on the big stage, placing 19th overall (20:00.6) to earn Second Team All-American honors. Teammates Dakota Tromblay (55th), Mariah Falkena (60th) and Jaycie Vohs (69th) all finished inside the top 70 to secure another top-10 team performance for the Bears.
Southeastern placed 17th, led by Paetyn Wiegand (31st, 20:37.0), while NIACC finished 27th behind Hailey Hanson (45th, 21:01.1) and Bridget Canton (50th, 21:06.9), who both cracked the top 50.
